About the Press
The LMU Munich University Library, together with a publishing service provider, supports all LMU members in publishing their research results in parallel in print and electronically, freely accessible in the spirit of the Berlin Declaration on Open Access to Knowledge in the Sciences and Humanities.
Both editions will be published under the CC BY 4.0 or CC BY-SA 4.0 license starting in 2021. With Open Publishing LMU, the exploitation rights remain with the author; thus, the work can also be published elsewhere.
The Open Publishing LMU offer is aimed at different target groups for different publication projects:
- LMU scientists can publish their own works or anthologies, such as conference proceedings.
- LMU doctoral and post-doctoral students publish their dissertation or post-doctoral thesis as a book in the series "Dissertationen der LMU" or "Habilitationsschriften der LMU" with their own financial contribution.
- Outstanding doctoral students in the humanities and social sciences were able to publish their dissertations in the series "Open Publishing in the Humanities" (OPH) with publication funding until the end of 2021. This series is now closed and will not accept any further submissions for publication.
The University Library of LMU Munich is a member of Arbeitsgemeinschaft Universitätsverlage (AG Universitätsverlage). The working group is an association of university presses, publishing services and platforms, which are connected to an academic institution and offer professional publishing services, in German speaking countries. The membership criteria include especially quality assurance according to scientific standards and the support of Open Access.
